Bach: arranged for Trumpet

Everyone can remember the brilliant sound of the trumpet in several Bach pieces, although there is no music for solo trumpet by him. It matters not, might have thought Boldoczki and he set out to transcribe a couple of cembalo concertos and chorals for his instrument. The result is a very well done recording, which may open a new field for the trumpet as a solo instrument. Boldoczki never pushes himself forwards. In fact, he has no need to. The conversation between the trumpet and the solo violin, played by Kristóf Baráti, is extremely beautiful. An hour of baroque music to enjoy.

"Bach" – it is how Gábor Boldoczki is advertising his new CD, the sixth in sequence, released by Sony Classical. The review in the magazine FONO FORUM describes it as an outstanding recording: "Hungarian trumpet player Gábor Boldoczki has very elegantly adapted the oboe parts for his instrument, with admirable and extremely well refined tone, and in the vocal movements he successfully completed the task of reflecting the colour of the human voice in the most sensuous way."
